Compassion Fatigue and Burnout

Compassion fatigue is the experience of emotional and/or physical exhaustion that can arise from overextending continuous care and support to others. It can lead to feelings of helplessness and powerlessness , reduced empathy and sensitivity, decreased productivity, emotional detachment and disconnectedness.
Comparably burnout is a state of chronic stress or strain that occurs when you feel overwhelmed and/or intellectually and emotionally drained by your career. As a result of prolonged exposure to high levels of stress, individuals may require time off from excessive responsibilities.
Intersectional Approaches to Couples Therapy
An intersectional therapist recognizes that individuals hold multiple identities and that these identities interact with each other which influences their experiences and relationships. Relational couples psychotherapy is combined with an understanding that various aspects of a person's identity, such as race, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, ability, and cultural background, impact their dynamics within the relationship.
